GeoSonic Lowland League: Sammy’s Spartans out to shoot at the StarsThe Spartans set out to continue their recent winning ways by seeking a fourth victory on the bounce to keep the pressure on the fellow leading pack as they head south to take on Dalbeattie Star in the GeoSonic Lowland League this Saturday. With 13 goals in those three wins, Manager Dougie Samuel takes his resurgent strike force on the road for a festive encounter at Islecroft Stadium where his charges haven’t always had their own way. Last time out, the oft-postponed clash saw Spartans head home late on a Wednesday night with three points that set up their title winning day showdown success, securing their second championship trophy since the Lowland League began. For the hosts, they will go into the game boosted by their last gasp victory over Edinburgh University last weekend. As far as the Islecroft faithful are concerned, Star will be found sitting at the wrong end of the table and a couple of wins on the bounce can see their side move up the ladder in no time. Meanwhile, wrap up as the forecast is for snow. Lots of it apparently. The match kicks-off at 3pm. |
