SPFL Pyramid Play-Off: Challenge of the Champions. Part 1, Scene 1 – Inverurie

Posted on Friday, April 27th, 2018

Lowland League Champions Spartans head north this weekend for the first of the two-legged SPFL Pyramid Play-off affair against their Highland League counterparts Cove Rangers.

The Nomadic Highlanders have ‘home’ advantage in the opening tie of what promises to be 180 minutes of fingernail biting stuff with the winner facing Cowdenbeath for the right to play League football next season.

Manager Dougie Samuel’s preparations have been measured, with a squad run-out last weekend offering key game time to a plethora of players whilst looking to replicate conditions away from the synthetic surface of Ainslie Park.

Ross Guthrie came through the match unscathed as he comes to the end of his road to recovery after injury whilst Willie Bremner put in the yards following his sitting out against East Stirlingshire. Battle-scarred Blair Tolmie is back in the fray following his bloodied bash to the coupon on title day and talismanic skipper Mikey Herd is fully fit to lead his side into battle one more time.

Kick-off is 3pm. Admission Prices: £10 Adult, £5 Concessions
