Lowland League: Rain, Rain, Go Away, we’ve got Dalbeattie on Wednesday!

Posted on Tuesday, April 10th, 2018

Spartans will be hoping the weather gods hold out ahead of Wednesday for their fifth attempt to play their long awaited and oft rain ravaged Ferrari Packaging Lowland League encounter against Dalbeattie Star.

With the extended winter playing havoc with the Islecroft Stadium surface both clubs will be encouraged by recent changes in the fortunes of the inclement conditions for this, the penultimate fixture of the enthralling season.

It’s the second 200 mile road trip in just five days for Dougie Samuel’s side, a good bit of business for the bus companies, but a reduction in recovery time for his players who defeated Gretna 0-3 at the weekend.

Hosts Dalbeattie will be out to gain the full points at their business end of the table too as they look to put some light between themselves and second bottom Vale of Leithen ahead of their crunch final day clash on the 2nd May.

The Spartans Gaffer will once again have an as near to full strength squad to choose from as he looks to build on a nine match unbeaten run that has seen his charges play catch up and sit one point clear at the top of the table over East Kilbride who take on Whitehill Welfare earlier in the evening at Rosewell.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
