Football Nation Cup: Melting snow gives hope for second shot at Semi

Posted on Monday, March 5th, 2018

With the snow disappearing almost as quickly as it covered the pitch, Dougie Samuel’s Spartans look set to take on fellow Lowland League title chasers East Kilbride in the Semi Final of the Football Nation Qualifying Cup at Ainslie Park.

A final call will be made during the day as the snow, which was up to 40 centimetres in parts at the weekend on the artificial surface, continues to melt like a fondant centre.

The hosts head into the tie with Gavin Malin trading places with Ross Guthrie who joins Jack Nixon on the treatment table and Ian McFarland sitting out due to suspension. Returning to the squad is Jason Stevens with a late fitness test set to determine one other player’s availability in this Tuesday night tantaliser.

Fans should of course wrap up super roasty toasty for the tie as is likely to be a cold one.  The Café / Bar will be open for all your hot (and even chilled) drinks.

Kick-off is 7.45pm and will be played to a finish on the night.
