Tough test awaits at BSC in Lowland League Match of the Day

Posted on Friday, January 12th, 2018

Spartans are set for one of their toughest tests yet as they head to the Indodrill Stadium in Alloa on Saturday where they will take on fellow title chasers BSC Glasgow in the Ferrari Packaging Lowland League.

It’s a congested affair at the top of one of the tightest run Lowland League seasons so far with our hosts, East Kilbride and now East Stirlingshire joining us in a quartet of hopefuls from which there can only be one winner.

With a fractured festive period of cancellations and such like, BSC’s time at the top has saw them make way for the current holders Kilby however with games in hand over the close knit pack, Dougie Samuel will be looking for his side to be patient and take one game at a time in order to stay in the race for silverware won in the inaugural year of the pyramid system.

Last time out between the sides in August at Ainslie Park, last minute drama saw the visitors snatch an unlikely victory at the death, deep into injury time.

Only one League defeat since August has seen Spartans keep themselves in the hunt and Saturday’s game is key to maintaining momentum as we head into the business part of the campaign.

In squad news, Ross Guthrie is back in contention for selection after a bout of flu whilst Paul Thomson continues to make significant progress with his knee.

The match at the Indodrill Stadium kicks off at 3pm. Admission Prices: £7/£3.
