Lowland League: Dish serves up winner to undo Edu

Posted on Saturday, October 28th, 2017

Goals from Ross Allum and Jamie Dishington saw Spartans turn round a half time deficit to defeat Edusport Academy at Galabank to remain one point behind league leaders BSC Glasgow with a game in hand.

Ross Allum had the best of the early chances following some fine individual play that saw him drive towards the edge of the box with his shot seeing keeper Belkacem scramble to his near post to collect.

The hosts took the lead in the 25th minute when Thomas Garnier unleashed an unstoppable strike beyond Andrew Stobie that drew applause from all corners of the ground.

Spartans rallied and David Greenhill was unlucky not to equalise with a 25 yard shot that was well saved by the French goalie.

HT: Edusport Academy 0-1 Spartans

It took just six minutes after the break for Spartans to draw level when Ross Allum burst into the box before thumping home.

Craig Stevenson was then unlucky with a free-kick after Greenhill was sent sprawling twenty yards out.

Edusport were reduced to 10 men with twenty minutes to go with Grant Nelson shown his second yellow of the afternoon.  This was to contribute to the Students undoing when Jamie Dishington snatched the winner with fifteen minutes left.

FT: Edusport Academy 1-2 Spartans

Spartans: Stobie, Brown (Guthrie), Stevenson, Tolmie, Thomson, Herd, Atkinson (Khutsishvili), Greenhill (Maxwell), Allum, McFarland, Dishington.  Subs Unused: Trialist GK.
