Maintaining momentum key for Greenhill ahead of Gala gameWith back to back victories to open their 2017-18 Ferrari Packaging Lowland League campaign, Spartans head to the Gala Fairydean Rovers on Saturday looking to build on the performances that has seen a maximum of six points earned in the opening two fixtures of the season.Wednesday night’s victory over neighbours Civil Service Strollers saw Spartans avoid a potential banana skin on a lush grassy surface and they return to the relative home comforts of 3G at Netherdale. Three highly competitive games in seven days will undoubtedly see Manager Dougie Samuel consider his final selection with mindfulness of the demands of his side. With rotation a feature on the bench at Civil, the gaffer has a fully fit squad at this disposal. Midweek match winner David Greenhill was in confident mood ahead of the trip to the Borders. The talismanic midfielder said, “Whilst it’s great to have won two games on the bounce, that’s done with now and we need to keep the momentum going into Saturday’s game. We didn’t do that well there last season in the league but it’s vitally important that you go to places like Gala and pick up full points if you want to be serious about winning the league.” Kick-off at Netherdale 3G is 3pm. The Spartan Army can get the Borders Rail service from Waverley to Gala for £10.50 return and the ground is approx 1.5 miles walk from the station. |
