Posted on Sunday, April 30th, 2017

Spartans progressed to the second round of the Lowland League Cup with a 3-0 win over East Kilbride at K-Park.

Dougie Samuel’s side raced to a two goal lead at the break when Jack Beesley finished off a move orchestrated by Scott Maxwell and Blair Tolmie opened his Spartans account with header after Chris Townsley’s effort was saved.

Blair Carswell saved McNeil’s spot kick on the stroke of half time after the two tangled as the East Kilbride player raced in on goal.

Spartans passage to Round 2 was complete when David Greenhill rounded off proceedings late on.

Adam Corbett made his senior debut when the Under 20s captain came on as a late replacement for Townsley.

Spartans: Carswell, Herd, Stevenson, Townsley (Corbett), Tolmie, Brown, Beesley, Maxwell (Turnbull), Allum (Dawson), Dishington, Greenhill.  Subs: Dawson, Corbett, Turnbull, Hay, Gilpin (GK)
