Lowland League: Spartans lose out to EK

Posted on Tuesday, April 18th, 2017

Spartans welcomed Lowland League champions East Kilbride onto the park with a guard of honour in the penultimate game of the season.

The hosts almost took the lead in the tenth minute when Anderson let fly from the edge of the box, only to see it rattle off the bar.

A double whammy sealed it for East Kilbride ahead of the break when Woods opened with a neat finish before Hughes doubled the lead with a header.

Spartans task to reduce the deficit was made harder when Herd was sent for an early shower for dissent in the 70th minute.

Spartans: Carswell, Herd, Dishington, Tolmie, Turnbull (Gabiola), Greenhill, Beesley (Comrie), Allum (Grotlin), Brown, Townsley.  Subs: Hay, Gilpin (GK)

Malt and Hops Man of the Match: Alan Brown
