North Edinburgh Derby: Spartans out to extend unbeaten run against local rivals

Posted on Friday, January 13th, 2017

The eagerly awaited North Edinburgh Derby sees Civil Service Strollers first foot Spartans at Ainslie Park on Saturday as both sets of fans look to see if their side can earn the honours in the second clash between the teams this season.

In the corresponding fixture last September, an incident packed encounter saw four goals and two sendings off in an incredible ninety minutes at Christie Gillies Park.  David Greenhill’s injury time spot kick conversion sharing the spoils in a feisty affair.

Dougie Samuel takes his charges into the game against former stablemate Alex Cunningham’s outfit on the back of a six match unbeaten league run, which has included a quartet of clean sheets in the process.

Back in contention for a place in the squad are Jack Hay and Eddie Malone following man flu and injury respectively.  Chris Townsley continues to recover from injury whilst Scott Maxwell remains on cloud nine after the arrival of Mini Maxi recently.

The match kicks-off at 3pm. Admission Prices £5 Adults, £3 Concessions & Under 16s can attend for free.
