Under 20s: Dawson at the four as Spartans go nap against GlaswegiansCameron Dawson grabbed four goals as Spartans came from behind to beat BSC Glasgow 8-2 in the Under 20s League fixture on Friday night.Head Coach Les Atkinson was back in the big chair for the second game against the Glaswegians in a month, the last outing seeing a late Jamie Clark strike securing a dramatic 3-2 win. Eddie Malone slotted into the heart of the defence as the ‘overage’ player looked to catch some match fitness on his return from injury whilst Cameron Dawson looked to continue his fine goalscoring form including a hat-trick last week at Preston. The opening ten minutes were largely spent camped inside the BSC half with a series of corners and attempts at goal however the home side couldn’t breach the whitewash. That was to be their undoing seconds later when the visitors took the lead from a break and Newlands slotted past Rae. The Spartans keeper had to be alert shortly after to make an important save from Murray to deny BSC once again. Spartans finally got the goal their early pressure merited and it was the head of captain Adam Corbett that brought the equaliser. The celebrations had barely curtailed before Cameron Dawson tapped in from close range to give his side the lead. A feeling of deja vu as the sides went in 2-2 following a fine team goal from the tourists. Nicol coming up with the finish to make it all square once again. HT: Spartans 2-2 BSC Glasgow Whatever was in the team water at the break, Spartans came out the blocks faster than Usain Bolt and it was a sensational second half that saw six goals scored without reply. Six minutes in and it was that man again Dawson on hand to pull Spartans ahead once again and five minutes later the striker set up Jonny Grotlin who netted from close range. There was to be no let up as Spartans look to add to their tally and just after the hour Dawson collected his second hat-trick in as many games following Corbett’s springy leap to beat Barr in the air and lay the ball in the striker’s path. A frantic twenty minute spell ended with a fourth second half goal and the same number of goals in the game for Dawson – and what a peach it was. The tall striker showing he’s not only a threat in the air with great chest control after sterling play by Lewis Hall, before a cheeky chip over the keeper that just about crossed the line despite the best efforts of a BSC defender to clear. Harry Girdwood then got in on the goals with a lovely piece of individual skill out wide before cutting back in and slotting the ball into the net to make it 7-2. The scoring was complete in the 78th minute when Murray Hand raced into the penalty area to despatch a low drive past Barr, much to the delight of the ‘Muzz Buzz’ fan club in the stand.
