Beezer hits half century as Spartans see off SelkirkJack Beesley’s 50th Spartans career goal and a David Greenhill double maintained Dougie Samuel’s side’s unbeaten start to the season with a 3-0 win over Selkirk.Broque Watson made his Spartans debut following the Scotland U17s Internationalist’s loan deal move from Glasgow Celtic. The visitors arrived in North Edinburgh sitting at the foot of the table, with gaffer Garry O’Conner looking for his first win of the campaign. There was an early scare for the hosts when Nicholson’s effort was deflected over his own crossbar by Blair Tolmie which was following shortly after by a Ross King effort that went wide. With the game looking likely to remain deadlocked at the break, it took a sublime strike from the edge of the box by in-form David Greenhill to open the scoring. Debutant Watson showed his pace down the flank, tormenting O’Conner’s side. His cross into the path of Scott Maxwell saw Amos pull off a fine save to deny the Spartans man from doubling the lead. HT: Spartans 1-0 Selkirk With the game finely balanced as supporters scurried to the back of the stand to avoid the persistent rain, Jack Beesley celebrated his half century with a tap in from close range on the hour mark to put further light between the sides. Then, with the game edging into injury time, Captain Greenhill rounded off the victory deep with a deft flick over Amos after being put in behind the visiting back division by Craig Stevenson. FT: Spartans 3-0 Selkirk Spartans: Carswell, Thomson, Malone, Dishington, Tolmie (Stevenson), Greenhill, Beesley, Maxwell (Mair), Watson (Raiker), Horribine, Townsley.
