IRN-BRU Round 2: Midweek trip to Stranraer awaits Samuel’s Spartans

Posted on Monday, August 15th, 2016

Spartans’ IRN-BRU Cup travels continue this Tuesday when they face an arduous 260 mile midweek round-trip journey to take on League 1 side Stranraer in the second round tie.

After overcoming Berwick Rangers on the road in Round 1, Dougie Samuel’s men will head to Stair Park hoping to claim another SPFL scalp against Brian Reid’s men.

Both teams were involved in seven goal games at the weekend, with the Ainslie Park side defeating Gala Fairydean Rovers 5-2 whilst our forthcoming hosts lost out Alloa by a similar scoreline at home.

Saturday’s debutant Igor Gabiola has signed on a short-term contract from Spanish outfit SD Gernika and will join the squad on the trip, whilst there Scott Maxwell remains an injury doubt.  Unfortunately Dan Ward won’t feature after suffering a hamstring pull at the weekend.

It’s the first official game between the clubs and it promises to be a cracking tie.  You can also get in for less on Tuesday night, with admission prices ensuring affordable football for all.  Adult £10, Concession 65+ £5, Secondary School £3, Primary School FREE.

Kick-off is 7.45pm and the match will be played to a finish on the night.

There are still places on the bus if supporters would like to travel with the team.  2.30pm departure from Ainslie Park.  Please contact Mark Brown to book.
