Pre-Season Friendly: All square at Olive Bank

A Jack Beesley goal earned Spartans a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw against Musselburgh Athletic in the latest pre-season friendly match at Olive Bank.

The East Region Super League side took a 40th minute lead courtesy of a Matty King daisy-cutter that gliding across the greenery to squeeze inside Ross Gilpin’s left hand post.

Spartans drew level in the 57th minute when Jack Beesley benefitted from some quick thinking at a free-kick to race into the box before sliding the ball through the legs of the advancing home keeper to level proceedings.

Both sides had chances to win what was an entertaining friendly which also saw a welcome return to action for Eddie Malone.

Next up for Spartans is the St Johnstone Under 20s at Ainslie Park on Thursday.  Please note the earlier kick-off time of 7pm.
