Spartans look to bounceback by downing dangerous Dalbeattie

Posted on Friday, March 25th, 2016

Spartans head to Dumfries on Saturday looking to put behind last weekend’s cup disappointment firmly behind them when they take on Dalbeattie Star at Islecroft Stadium.

With Shelley Kerr’s Stirling dropping points in midweek, a victory for Dougie Samuel’s side will keep the pressure on the Students, who have played one more game, as the season enters its final stages.

Both sides have been in decent Lowland League form of late, with Spartans having only lost once in their last 9 outings, ensuring they remain at the business end of the table.

Star go into the game on the back of an unbeaten three match run, including an impressive 4-1 win on the road in midweek at Preston with dangerman Lewis Sloan grabbing a hat-trick on the night as our hosts came back from going a goal behind after 60 seconds.  That match saw a first, with a trio of female match officials in charge.

In the previous fixture between the sides, Spartans ran out 4-2 winners at Ainslie Park, with a David Greenhill double added to by Aaron Murrell and Craig Stevenson. The travelling Ainslie Park faithful would setting for a similar outcome – minus the net being found at our end.

The game kicks-off at 3pm at Islecroft Stadium.  Directions: http://www.dalbeattiestar.co.uk/club/219690/FindUs
