Spartans starlet wants his team to keep on Dishing out defeatsThere will be a midday pitch inspection ahead of Spartans midweek trip to Castle Douglas where they are set to take on Threave Rovers as Dougie Samuel’s side get back to Ferrari Packaging Lowland League action. One young man who will be looking forward to the arduous 220 mile Wednesday night round-trip is Jamie Dishington. The teenager has been a welcome addition to the side following his progression from the Under 20s side last year. We caught up with Jamie ahead of the game. “We’ve got a couple of big games on the bounce, starting on Wednesday and of course against Stirling on Saturday. Picking up points and maintaining our momentum is important whilst avoiding any potential banana skins along the way. “There’s an air of confident in the camp just now and we’re putting together a decent run. It’s good to see up score some goals but also great to keep opponents out as well. However, we know Threave will be keen to get revenge on us after the game at the Academy earlier in the season so we will need to be on our toes right from the start.” The 19 year old has been in a rich vein of form recently, picking up the Malt and Hops Man of the Match award last weekend against BSC Glasgow and also scoring with the head in the 4-0 win. How does the attacking midfielder reckon his season has gone so far? “I felt I started the season well with a good run of games in the team which I wasn’t really expecting to be fair. I’ve picked up a few ‘Man of the Match awards’ but then my form and confidence dipped a little bit however the last few games I’ve found my mojo again and enjoying my football.” The game at Meadow Park is subject to a midday pitch inspection following overnight rain in Castle Douglas. We will update our social media outlets as soon as we have news. The match is scheduled for a 7.45pm ko. Meanwhile, at Ainslie Park, Colin Tomassi’s East of Scotland side play hosts to Coldstream in the opening round of the League Cup (7.45pm KO). With 15 goals in two games between the sides so far this season, will it be defences on top this time to decide who progresses in the search for silverware? |
