On-form Spartans wary of Fairydean cup exit backlashSpartans five match unbeaten run takes itself on a trip to the Borders on Saturday, with Gala Fairydean Rovers the hosts in what will be the second game between in sides this month. The previous encounter, in the Football Nation Cup just 10 days ago, saw Dougie Samuel’s side grab a late winner to progress to the Final next month. Rovers will be keen to return the favours at Netherdale by ending an impressive sequence of results for the Ainslie Park men. The Borders side currently sit 12th in the table however their position doesn’t necessarily reflect their ability to create opportunities in front of goal and second place Spartans will need to deliver their ‘A’-game to keep themselves at the top of the chasing pack. With last week’s match at BSC Glasgow postponed due to the weather, Mikey Bruce awaits his opportunity to return to a Spartans side that contains Dean Horribine who has scored five times in six games since the New Year. Kick-off on the Netherdale 3G is at 3pm. Meanwhile at Ainslie Park, Colin Tomassi’s East of Scotland side will be looking to bounceback from last week’s defeat at home to Heriot Watt with a win against Coldstream in the league. 3pm ko. |
