Samuel sets out to rein in Colts in South Challenge Cup clashThere’s a feeling of deja vu at Ainslie Park as its same again for Spartans and Cumbernauld Colts as the sides meet at the same venue for the second time in seven days, this time in the last 16 of the South Challenge Cup.Spartans were the victors last week, with a 3-0 win over the Broadwood based outfit however the scoreboard is reset to zero with the quarter finals of the coveted competition the prize for Saturday’s victors. As far as footballing clichés go, it’s the form book goes out the window when it comes to knock-out one-off cup games. Colts will head back across the M9 aiming to secure their first win against Dougie Samuel’s Spartans whilst the home gaffer will be keen to build on a hat-trick of back to back wins. Those victories have seen Blair Carswell remain undefeated in some 270 minutes whilst at the other end, fellow youngster George Hunter is enjoying his return to the club, scoring in two of his three games since his loan spell back at Ainslie Park begun. In other squad news, Euan Saunderson and Andy Mair are once again available for selection, whilst Ross Gray is cup tied from playing with Selkirk earlier in the tournament. Saturday’s Cup Tie kicks-off at 3pm. Admission Prices: Adults: £5, Concessions £3, Under 16s Free. Meanwhile, the Under 20s take on Whitehill Welfare at Ainslie Park on Friday night (7.45pm) whilst our East of Scotland side face a trip to Stirling University.
