Spartans and Ormiston share the spoils in two-all draw

A stunning Sean Stewart goal was the pick of the goals in a proverbial game of two halves as Spartans and Ormiston played out a 2-2 draw in the Central Taxi’s East of Scotland League at Ainslie Park.

After the enforced lay off last Saturday due to the weather, it was business as usual for Colin Tomassi’s side.

Spartans control the game from the opening whistle and it was little surprise to those who watched the lunchtime kick-off when Spartans took the lead.

Brad Raiker’s precision pass split the Ormiston defence to find Blair Atkinson who gathered the loose ball before composing himself to slot the ball past the keeper.

Spartans pressed forward in order to double their lead and Sean Stewart looked on as his shot was well saved by the Ormison keeper.  From the resulting corner, Chris Anderson found a hovering Stewart who unleashed an unstoppable effort that curled into the back of the net.

The visitors got themselves back into the game early in the second half, following a cross whipped in towards the back post that was turned into the net.  The resurgent East Lothian side then went on to grab a 62nd minute equaliser to earn a share of the spoils.
