Under 20s too hot to trot for young Colts

Posted on Saturday, February 6th, 2016

A frantic four goal flurry within the opening 18 minutes saw the Under 20s defeat Cumbernauld Colts at the Academy on Friday night.

A Harry Girdwood double after 12 minutes put Spartans on their way to three points and his brace was quickly followed by Alex Imlah’s close range effort whilst Johnny Grotlin scored for the 5th game in succession to put his side out of sight.

The visitors pulled one back on the half hour however this to prove to be nothing more than a consolation effort for the Colts.

Les Atkinson was forced to shuffle his pack at the break after keeper Cameron Rae was sent off moments before the interval for a foul.  Sub keeper Cameron Feather took over between the sticks and together with his resolute defence, the 10 man Spartans kept the Colts at a long reign to hold on to their 4-1 advantage.
