Latest News: Murrell puts pen to paper for Paatelainen’s ArabsSpartans are delighted to announce that teenage striker Aaron Murrell will tomorrow sign for SPFL side Dundee United in a two and a half year deal.Murrell’s move to Tannadice includes a loan back to Spartans with Aaron playing for the Dundee United development team as well as of course training full time with Mixu Paatelainen’s Arabs. Aaron joined Spartans a few years ago however it’s been a meteoric twelve months for the 18 year old who has taken the Lowland League by storm in his first year in the senior team. After scoring no fewer than 19 times for the Under 20s in the second half of the 2014/15 campaign, Manager Dougie Samuel drafted the goalscorer into his squad ahead of the current Lowland League season. With 24 goals in 22 matches, his inclusion has been one that has been warmly welcomed – and cheered throughout – by the Spartan Army. Chairman Craig Graham said, “We are very pleased for Aaron. He has worked exceptionally hard, especially in the last 6 months, and this is a great reward for him. Our coaches have also to take tremendous credit for the additional time and effort they have input with Aaron, they have done a great job to really accelerate his development. We are proud of the development environment we have at Spartans and Aaron is yet another player to move from us into the SPFL. Aaron’s success shows to all our young players what can be achieved if they really commit to being the best they can be”. Everyone at the club wishes Aaron all the best with this new chapter in his footballing career. |
