Cloudie spells expected as Spartans look to reign in Lowland League encounterSpartans welcome back former talismanic striker Keith McLeod and ex-boss Mikey Lawson to Ainslie Park on Saturday as Dougie Samuel’s side take on Vale of Leithen in the latest instalment of an intriguing start to this season’s Ferrari Packaging Lowland League.Fresh from the distraction of the William Hill Scottish Cup exploits last weekend that earned them a trip to SPFL 2 outfit Elgin City later in the month, the home team will be keen to continue their winning streak of five games on the bounce. Since the narrow defeat at Gretna 2008 in August, Spartans have found the net no fewer than 23 times in just 5 games whilst the defence, spearheaded by Captain Ally MacKinnon, have only conceded twice – a record they will be looking to continue at 4.45pm on Saturday. The visitors make the trip to the Capital looking to kick-start their campaign that currently sees them sitting second bottom however a win could see the Victoria Park side propel themselves from 14th place to a lofty ninth, such is the tight and competitive league this year. Striker Keith McLeod certainly knows a thing or two about finding his way to the net at the Academy and has netted in his last two outings for the Borders side who will be keen to bounce back after a 1-3 defeat last week at home to leaders Edinburgh City. Kick-off at Ainslie Park is 3pm. Admission £5, Concessions £3, Under 16s – FREE!
