Murrell makes his mark as Spartans see off BSCAn Aaron Murrell double secured full points for Spartans in a tight affair against BSC Glasgow at Ainslie Park.Spartans got off to an ideal start with just 100 seconds on the clock after Derick Moore in the visitors goal dilly-dallied on a Stephen Bronsky pass-back allowing Aaron Murrell to score his 13th goal of the season with a tap in to the empty net from the edge of the box. It was almost a second for Murrell moments later after he collected the ball inside the BSC half from a mis-placed pass. His race in on goal saw him round the keeper who forced the teenager wide enough to make the angle tight and his shot hit could only hit the post. BSC keeper Moore had to be on top form when he saved from David Greenhill then recovered to thwart Alan Brown after fine distribution from Jamie Dishington. BSC’s looked to get back into the game and were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box which David Gray cleared the wall but also Blair Carswell’s goal in the process. HT: Spartans 1-0 BSC Glasgow Spartans were unlucky not to extend their lead when Man of the Match Jamie Dishington and Aaron Murrell exchanged a neat one-two. Murrell looked set to shoot before a timely tackle from Drew Ramsay saw the ball break to Conner Duthie who saw his shot go over the bar. BSC were on level terms just seven minutes after the interval when Callum Home found himself unmarked from a David Gray corner to header home from six yards. Spartans restored their one goal advantage on the hour mark after a delightful cross-field pass from Conner Duthie found David Greenhill who crossed into the path of Aaron Murrell who tapped home from close range. David Greenhill’s teasing play saw him leave his marker for dead before whipping in a fine cross for Jamie Dishington who had his ‘Van Vossen’ moment, clearing the crossbar from close range. As the game headed into injury time, Arnault Bembo had one final opportunity to tie what was a midfield war of attrition but he could only force his effort wide of Carswell’s post.
