EOS: Form suggests goals a guarantee as Spartans head to Ormiston

Posted on Saturday, September 19th, 2015

Colin Tomassi takes his side down the A1 on Saturday afternoon for a tricky trip away to Ormiston in the Central Taxis East of Scotland League.

Both sides will be keen to secure three points as they look to keep up the early pressure in a table headed by the undefeated Leith who have played up to two more games than the chasing pack.

If it’s goals you are after, this may be the game of the day for the roving football fan.  Last time out, Spartans narrowly lost out 3-4 to Heriot Watt whilst Ormiston were involved in a goal-fest against Tynecastle with no fewer than 11 strikes hitting the back of the net in a 5-6 win for the Edinburgh side.

The man in the middle is Mark Rennie who officiated in another high scoring tie during midweek, with Heriot Watt and Peebles sharing eight goals in a surreal 4-4 draw.

Tomassi said, “Ormiston will be another difficult game for us and with the fixture venue swap, we do so on the road this time.  After a week off, I’m looking for the lads to get back to winning ways after our first defeat of the season at Heriot Watt.  We’ll have to do so without Kai Wilson and Ross Gilpin however Donal Henretty and new signing Aquib Salim will be available for selection.”

The match, as Meadowbank, Ormiston, EH35 5LQ, kicks-off at 3pm.
