Spartans head for Gretna in latest Lowland League test

Posted on Friday, August 21st, 2015

Spartans head to Gretna looking to build on last week’s win against Whitehill in the latest offering from a jam-packed opening few weeks in the Ferrari Packaging Lowland League.

The hosts currently sit in 12th place in the table, a position that doesn’t reflect the danger the Raydale men can cause, as Preston found out in their EoS cup encounter seven days ago.

Dougie Samuel, with a treatment room akin to the set of Holby City, will be without Dean Horribine who was added to the injury list after suffering ligament damage in the 3-2 win at Ainslie Park v Welfare.

Leading the charge up front will be teenage striker Aaron Murrell. The former u/20s starlet has found the net three times already this season sicne his move up to the senior game, including a sensational goal last time out.

With East Kilbride and Selkirk going head to head and City playing the unpredictable men from Rosewell, a win in Dumfries could further propel Samuel’s side up the ladder.
