Pulsating local derby to kick-off East of Scotland campaignEast of Scotland boss Colin Tomassi leads his side into a mouth-watering local derby to kick-off this season’s League campaign against neighbours, Civil Service Strollers. It’s been a winning start for the former Strollers Assistant Manager, with his new look squad making it a hat-trick of victories in the Qualifying Cup Group stages against Duns, Stirling University and Kelso. Tomassi will be hoping the momentum continues against a Marine Drive outfit now managed by ex-Spartans EOS gaffer Alex Cunningham who returns to Ainslie Park for the first time. The Spartans Manager said, “I’m looking forward to game and of course, welcoming Alex, his players and committee to Ainslie Park. “I watched them last week and they thoroughly deserved their victory in the Scottish Cup against Newton Stewart. They look a well organised team with talented players and good experience in Paul Greenhill and Stuart Burnside. I expect it to be a fantastic and pulsating encounter between two competitive, football playing sides. “With no game last week, the players have worked hard at training and are we are all looking forward to trying to keep the good start to the season going.” The rest week for Spartans has helped Tomassi with his final preparations. Despite Ian Thomson being unavailable and both Jamie Dishington and Ewan Sanderson away on Lowland League duty, the former Hibs, Meadowbank Thistle, Berwick Rangers player goes into the campaign with the luxury of an injury free squad at his disposal. The match at Ainslie Park kicks-off at 3pm. |
