Only reward for Ward is maximum points at Selkirk

Spartans summer signing Dan Ward is confident last weekend’s win against Dalbeattie has given his side an early boost in their desire to regain the Lowland League crown ahead of their midweek trip to Selkirk.

In what will be the fourth game in 10 days at the beginning of the Ferrari Packaging sponsored league, the Scottish University capped Centre Midfielder, is keen to get back on the park and keep the Spartans momentum going forward.

Ward, who moved across the Capital after six years at Edinburgh University AFC said, “Selkirk by all accounts have had a good start, but personally, I don’t know too much about them other than they’ve strengthened their squad during the close season.

“If we go into the game on Wednesday in the same manner that we did against Stirling and Dalbeattie, we’re more than capable of getting a result against any team in the league.

Ward, who netted against Duns in the opening pre-season friendly at the beginning of July added, “The first few games I felt a bit rusty and now I feel like I’m just starting to get going.  I’m looking forward to the game on Wednesday and to another chance to get three points in the bag.”

The hosts will be looking to build on their 2-2 draw against BSC last time out, when a Garry O’Connor’s double in a three minute spell turned a 1-0 deficit into Selkirk’s advantage, only for the Glaswegians to get back on level terms some ninety seconds later.

The match at Yarrow Park kicks off at 7:15pm.  Admission: Adults £5 Concessions £3 & Kids U/16 with adult – Free.
