Ainslie Park Season Swan Song As Spartans Prepare to Face Preston

Posted on Friday, May 1st, 2015

Preston Athletic visit Ainslie Park in League Cup Quarter final action tomorrow in our final home game of the season. Preston manage Willie Kirk is leaving the Pennypitt to take over as Head Coach of Bristol Academy, a post he takes up after today’s game.

For Manager Dougie Samuel, he is hoping his side can rise to the new challenge of the Lowland League cup after a couple of months with several free weekends. “It’s no secret that it’s been a challenging period since the Scottish cup replay loss, managing motivation and energy levels has been difficult for everyone. However, today will be different, today’s game has something on it, so to speak.  The League Cup is a trophy we would love to win.  I’m sure everyone in the Preston camp will be thinking exactly the same.”

On the player front, Donal Henretty, John Grant and Willie Bremner are missing while Mikey Bruce and Iain Thomson’s season ended several weeks ago. On the plus side, Eddie Malone returns and we will likely call on a couple of players from the East of Scotland side to come into the squad.

Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 3pm.
