William Hill Scottish Cup Round 5 v Berwick Rangers – Useful Match InformationWe’ve been inundated with calls and emails over the last couple of weeks from supporters, well-wishers and football followers across the land in relation to this weekend’s Scottish Cup 5th Round tie. Here’s a handy resume of the answers to many of your questions ahead of the big game:The Spartans play SPFL 2 side Berwick Rangers this Saturday at Ainslie Park in Round 5 of the William Hill Scottish Cup. If we win we will make history as the first non-league team to play in the last 8 of the tournament for 55 years. This Cross-Border clash sees the Lowland League title holders take on their third SPFL opponents on the Road to Hampden. We have already beaten Clyde and Morton and in both games the bumper home support has made all the difference. Can you Be the 12th Man on the 7th February? We are making a big plea for everyone in the North Edinburgh community to come along and back their local team as we aim to make history. The TV cameras will be along, “Pulse of the Place” our local Samba band will provide the pre match entertainment and hundreds of local youngsters will be bringing a real family atmosphere. It promises to be a magical afternoon. With a sizeable crowd expected, we have entrances open on both Pilton Drive and Pilton Avenue. The gates will open at 1.00pm. Admission is £12 for adults, £8 for concessions and Under 12’s are FREE – continuing our commitment to offer affordable football for all. Our Ainslie Park arena holds 3500 people, with 500 seats in our covered stand, with 90 seats reserved for Berwick fans in the North section. There are reserved seats in the stand for all those with a hospitality ticket or those with a ticket allowing access to the cafe/bar. These tickets have been distributed amongst Voting Members and Season ticket holders. Other supporters are advised to get to Ainslie Park early if they want to ensure they get a seat in the stand. Toilets will be located at the North Bank and behind the Main Stand. The external tea bar beside the changing rooms will be available from 1.45pm. If you are arriving by car, please note that Pilton Drive will be closed between Morrisons and Ferryfield House due to roadworks. There is a full programme of events taking place within the neighbouring Ainslie Park Leisure Centre. Supporters are advised to park elsewhere or to travel by public transport. Entry to the Spartans car park is by pre-arranged car park passes only. Any Berwick Rangers fans looking for a venue before the game, please contact Queensberry Bowling Club. The club is located just a few minutes walk from the Pilton Avenue entrance and have room for about 100 people. They recommend phoning ahead on 0131 552 6858 to avoid disappointment. Members of the media will be given a pass when they enter the ground allowing access to a private room which will have wifi. Team sheets will be placed in the room when they are available.
