Pulse of the Place set to drum up Scottish Cup support – Samba Spartans style! The energetic Pulse of the Place will be drumming up a bit extra support for Spartans in Saturday’s historic 5th Round Scottish Cup tie against Berwick Rangers. This is not the first time that Spartans and Pulse of the Place, a local youth samba drumming band, have been together. Along with The Spartans Community Football Academy, Pulse were two of only 94 projects across the whole of Scotland to achieve Inspire Awards from the London Olympics in 2012. Our teaming up on 7th February is part of that Olympic Legacy. Since Pulse of the Place formed in 2004, they have had some notable achievements: they joined with other drummers in 2011 to gain a world record for the largest samba band, played at the first night-time Samba Carnival in Liverpool (the only Scottish band to do so), played at Edinburgh Castle for St Andrews Day 2012, are regular participants in the Edinburgh Carnival and were invited to play at the Olympic Park during 2012 Paralympic Games. Pulse of the Place is about team work, community partnerships and drumming. On Saturday 7th February, ‘Pulse’ will bring a touch of Brazil to the Scottish Cup in the hope that it will spur Spartans on to make Scottish Cup History!
