Samuel seeks maximum points from University Challenge

Posted on Friday, January 23rd, 2015

Manager Dougie Samuel will be looking for his side to teach the students of Edinburgh University a lesson on Saturday as Spartans search for their first win in 2015.

The teams drew 2-2 earlier in the campaign on a historic night when the Peffermill outfit opened their new pitch.

There’s plenty of history connecting the two clubs of course and for Samuel, he’s looking forward to welcoming former Ainslie Park man Neil ‘Zorro’ Irvine back for what promises to be another tough encounter.

In his match programme notes, Samuel writes, “For me, Zorro remains part of the Spartans family. He’s someone who’s played his part in our journey to this point.

“I also believe our clubs share a unique relationship, bound together by history and generations of people who have featured for both clubs.”

On the playing front, Spartans will be without Jack Nixon & Donal Henretty who are unavailable for selection.  Mikey Bruce, Mikey Herd and Kevin Sivewright remain on the treatment table however the trio are making progress with their rehabilitation programmes.

Kevin Motion returns a squad that may have a new addition in place come the opening whistle at 3pm.

Admission Prices for Saturday’s Scottish Sun Lowland League game are Adults £5, Concessions £3 and Under 16s Free.
