Spartans all set for Rovers – and Ando – return in latest Lowland League clashAfter the euphoria of Scottish Cup success, it’s back to Lowland League duty for Dougie Samuel’s Spartans side who look to extend their eleven match unbeaten run on Saturday against Gala Fairydean Rovers.Former Spartans favourite Chris Anderson returns to the Academy for the second time this season after making the recent move from fellow Lowland League side Vale of Leithen. Despite Gala’s 10th place league table standing, there will be no room for complacency at Ainslie Park for a Spartans side who had to perform a late comeback to snatch all three points when the teams last met back in August at Netherdale. Whilst the distraction of the Cup provided a big buzz around the Club last weekend, the main focus is on retaining the title come May. Gaffer Samuel said, “We are fully aware that we face stiff opposition today and are up against a side who has provided us with a stern test already this season (and last season). With only 2 league games in the month of November, it’s absolutely crucial that we take maximum points this month and stay in touch with the current leaders Edinburgh City.” As the season progresses, Samuel is keen to utilise the strength and depth of his squad and Spartans and there will be changes to the side that defeated Clyde last weekend. Other than Craig Stevenson unavailable due to work commitments and long term injury victims Mikey Herd & Robbie Ross, the manager has a full card to chose from. Kick off at Ainslie Park is at 3pm. Admission Prices are £5 Adults, £3 Concessions and U/15s go free. 24 page Match Programme, including an interview with young scoring sensation George Hunter, is available on the gate priced just £2. |
