The Shipyard head to our backyard for riveting South Challenge Cup tie

Posted on Friday, October 24th, 2014

Spartans welcome Burntisland Shipyard to Ainslie Park for their second encounter of the season, this time to battle it out in Round 1 of the coveted South Challenge Cup.

Last time out, also on the search for silverware in the Image Printers Cup, Spartans ran out 7-0 winners against the Central Taxis 1st Division side however Saturday’s tie will offer the Fifers an opportunity to settle scores and the chance of a cup upset to boot.

With a gruelling League campaign plus next week’s Scottish Cup tie with Clyde, Spartans Manager Dougie Samuel will be looking to ensure his side progress to Round 2 of the biggest local cup competition we play in.

A few players have graced the treatment table this week for some running repairs, allowing Samuel to utilise his squad against the Shipyard side.

Kevin Motion, Alan Brown are in contention for a starting berth, whilst Iain Thomson is likely to be part of the gaffer’s plans from the outset if he is 100% after a bout of man flu.

Further good news from the Spartans camp this week is that Jack Beacher has performed well at training and may feature during the 90 minutes.

The game kicks off at 3pm.  Admission Prices: £5 Adults, £3 Concessions, U/15s Free!  24-page Match Programme £2.
