Spartans set out to get EK peeky with Scottish Cup winIt’s time once again to Defy The Odds. The Road to Hampden starts for Dougie Samuel’s Spartans on Saturday when they take on East Kilbride at Ainslie Park in Round 2 of the William Hill Scottish Cup.The tie is the only all Lowland League affair, which sees seven sides from the division take on a Clubs from the SJFA and SPFL as the romance of the cup continues in earnest. Spartans will be determined to secure their first win over ‘Kilby’ with three meetings in the Lowland League so far resulting in a late loss at K-Park and a no score draw at the tail end of the inaugural campaign. A double from Kevin Motion earned his side a share of the spoils when the teams went head to head back in August and another tight affair is guaranteed. The visitors had a tricky encounter against Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale in the opening round, edging the East of Scotland side out by the narrowest of margins whilst Spartans gained automatic entry into Round 2. A busy treatment table gives Dougie Samuel food for thought ahead of his team selection, with Jack Beesley, Gary Cennerazzo and Kevin Sivewright all having missed last Saturday’s win at BSC Glasgow however they have responded well in rehab and may feature during the course of the game. Iain Thomson continues his return from his recent eye problems and may make the squad after two starts with our EoS XI, whilst John Grant is out of contention for a place in the side following his red card at Cliftonhill last season. The match at Ainslie Park kicks-off at 3pm.
