Gretna Grab The Win At Raydale10 man Spartans lost out 2-0 away to Gretna as they slip to their 2nd defeat of the Lowland League season.Ally MacKinnon returned to the starting eleven in place of the injured Michael Herd however experienced duo Keith McLeod and Donal Henretty were unavailable for selection. Spartans started well and Sean Muhsin had a couple of opportunities early on, while Willie Bremner did well to find Cennerazzo who fired just wide. As the game went on however the home side started to settle and with almost the last kick of the first half took the lead when Alan Inglis flicked the ball over Kevin Swain and into the net. Spartans started the 2nd half with intent as Errol Douglas fought to the byline onto to see his cross into the box fail to find a Spartans jersey and cleared to safety. It was Gretna however who doubled their lead in the 64th minute when Joe Slattery beat Mike Bruce to the byline. He cut the ball back into the box to the feet of Iain Anderson who blasted the ball home. With about 10 minutes left Spartans were reduced to ten men for the 2nd week in a row when Kevin Motion was shown a 2nd yellow as he reacted when trialist Connor Graham appeared to dive for a free kick. Malt & Hops Man of the Match: Craig Stevenson – One of the few positives on a disappointing afternoon was yet another accomplished and confident performance from ‘Grinchy’ as the youngster has already proven himself to be a top talent Team: Swain, MacKinnon, Cennerazzo, Sivewright, Bruce, Motion, Stevenson, Muhsin (Beacher), Douglas, Bremner, Brown (Beesley) |
