Scottish Sun Lowland League: Grinchy’s gunning for GretnaSpartans look to continue their impressive start on the road as they head to Gretna in the latest round of the Scottish Sun Lowland League.Wins away at Gala and Threave have contributed significantly towards Spartans currently sharing second spot with Selkirk and East Kilbride in what is already shaping up to be an exciting season with the ultimate prize of a place in SPFL 2 potentially on offer for the winner. Last season’s visit to Raydale resulted in a 0-3 win for Dougie Samuel’s side and with back-to-back wins on their travels so far this season, Spartans will be keen to emulate last September’s success. One new recruit is desperate to get back to winning ways after last week’s 2-2 draw at home to East Kilbride. Craig Stevenson, a summer signing from Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale is looking forward to the trip, “I think it’ll be yet another tough game for us, Gretna is never an easy place to go and pick up points however I think we are more than capable of replicating the win the guys achieved there last season. “To beat Gretna though, we’ll have to be better than last weekend against East Kilbride. We were disappointed with our performance where we allowed them to control the game for large spells. ‘Grinchy’ added, “However, we’ve worked hard this week at training on our fitness as it’s been an intense start to the campaign and we’ll take our ‘A game’ to Gretna and give it our all over the 90 minutes and look to bringing the three points back up the road with us at full time.” Back in contention for a place in the squad is Donal Henretty. His red card during last week’s game at Ainslie Park has been reduced to a yellow on appeal. The match at Raydale kicks-off at 3pm. |
