Sammy Looks for Gala Day After Midweek Disappointment

Posted on Friday, August 8th, 2014

Spartans travel to Galashiels tomorrow to take on Gala Fairydean Rovers in Lowland League action. Following a disappointing midweek defeat to Edinburgh City, Manager Dougie Samuel knows his side must perform better if they are to come away with an important away win.

“Gala have started the season well and are one of the three clubs with a 100% record so far.We know we will face a stiff test and know we didn’t achieve anywhere near the standards we are capable of during the week.”

On the player front Willie Bremner is still on holiday and Michael Herd is a doubt having picked up a knock last weekend. However, Donal Henretty is available again after only being able to make the 2nd half of the game during the week.

Borders boy Jack Beesley is hoping they can produce a much better performance. “We knew midweek would be a very tough game but the performance, as well as the result, was a massive disappointment. We’ll need to have a considerable improvement tomorrow if we want to get anything out of the game. We fully expect the game to be as tough as the game against City but the boys are working hard to ensure we respond positively.”

The game kicks off at Netherdale at 3pm tomorrow. Make sure you keep up to date with all the action by following our twitter account – @spartansfc
