Sammy seeks Star turn in final pre-season friendly

Spartans complete their pre-season preparations with a Tuesday night friendly away to Junior Super League side Newtongrange Star.

With the biggest season of the Club’s history kicking off on this weekend, the friendly will give Spartans Manager Dougie Samuel one final opportunity to build on what has been a high tempo pre-season schedule.

After matching Morton for the bulk of Saturday’s Petrofac Cup clash at Cappielow in what were challenging conditions, Samuel’s side head to Mid Lothian to take on Alan Miller’s outfit who have impressed during their friendlies so far.

A 90^th minute equaliser on Saturday gave Nitten a 2-2 draw against fellow Lowland League opponents Whitehill Welfare at Rosewell and they will give the Ainslie Park side a tough challenge ahead of Saturday’s league opener at home against Stirling University.

The match kicks-off at 7.30pm at New Victoria Park.
