East of Scotland Match Re-ArrangedSaturday’s East of Scotland League Cup Quarter final was called off late due to a waterlogged pitch. The game has been re-arranged for this Wednesday at 7.45pm as our East of Scotland side take on Stirling University East of Scotland.East of Scotland Manager Alex Cunningham shares his thoughts ahead of the game. “On Wednesday we travel to Stirling for our re-arranged League Cup Quarter Final against Stirling University EOS with a 7.45pm kick off at the University Campus. Last week was our final league game of the season where we were away to Tynecastle FC at Fernieside. We won the game 2-0 with Davy Stewart adding a further two goals to his seasons tally making him our top scorer. More importantly the team showed the desire and character that that saw us do so well in the mid part of the season. Our concern before the game was that we were missing a recognized centre back with Connor Armstrong still struggling with the injury he picked up against East Kilbride and Lewis Kidd’s miserable season continued as he suffered a double break to his right leg last Friday night whilst playing a 7 a side game in an attempt to gain more fitness. With the senior side also low on resources we asked Andy Ewood for the services of Roddy MacLeod, he played very well on the day and defensively we kept a clean sheet. The win against Tynecastle saw us finish in 6th place in the EOS Premier Division resulting in us achieving our overall season objective of being able to hold our own in the top division, a creditable result and all credit to the players. Team: Murray Jackson, Brad Raiker, Reece Cochrane, Roddy MacLeod, Keith Boyes, David Stewart, Lucazs Rusin, Mathew Cunningham, Scott Clapperton, Ian Ballantyne, Mike Gray. Subs Haydn Crane, Alex Brown, Paul Roberts, Nick Ghamgosar. During the course of this season injuries and player availability have had a major effect on the team selection hence the need for a squad of players, even with a squad we have been very stretched at times however we have been assisted by Dougie on a number of occasions with Danny O’Donnell, Chris Anderson, Sean Mushin, Jack Blaikie, Danny Main, Alisdair MacKinnon and Donal Henretty all turning out for us at some point in the season. There has also been the opportunity to bring in some of our EOS U19’s into the side with young Brad Raiker now featuring regularly for us, Andy Mair, Peter Lachie and Blair Atkinson have also turned out for us. We still have a young side with good potential and now as we begin to plan for next season there is the opportunity to do better. The players have created a good team spirit and this should bode well for next season as we look to retain the squad for another challenge. Hope to see you up at Stirling supporting the EOS Spartans.” |
