Spartans Football Club would like to offer their condolences in respect of two very sad events that have shaken the footballing community in the Capital today.

Tynecastle U/14s player Jamie Skinner tragically collapsed and died during his team’s fixture against their Spartans counterparts at Saughton this morning.   The 13 year old had recently been playing for Hearts and was tipped for a bright future.

Sadly this evening we have been informed of another loss of a young talented footballer.

A statement this evening from Easter Road confirmed the untimely death of Hibernian U/20s midfielder / striker David Paul.  The 18 year old, who played in the pre-season friendly at the Academy v the Seniors, passed away earlier this morning in his sleep.

Everyone across the extended Spartans footballing family offers their sincere condolences to both Jamie and David’s families, friends and everyone connected at Tynecastle FC and Hibernian FC  on this black day for football in Edinburgh.
