Something’s Got to Give in Form Destruction Derby

Posted on Friday, November 8th, 2013

It’s Edinburgh Derby weekend once again as Edinburgh City visit Ainslie Park this Saturday in Lowland League Action.

We opened our Lowland League campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory at Meadowbank while it took extra time for us to come out on top 3-1 in the Image Printers cup at Ainslie Park a few weeks later.

While we have been on a recent run of form, City have secured impressive victories over East Kilbride last weekend and a thumping 5-1 victory over Whitehill Welfare the weekend before.

Manager Dougie Sameul is keen to continue our recent winning record however knows we face a tough game this weekend
“Everyone is looking forward to facing one of the forms teams in the league at this time. City are flying just now, will come here full of confidence and desperate to reverse results from earlier this season. Joining several others on the sidelines will be Ali McKinnon after his head knock last week, although Donal Henretty is available after a 2 week absence”.

Former City player Gary Cennerazzo is also looking forward to facing up against some of his former team-mates
“Saturday is a day I cant wait and I relish playing against my own club, some good times there and some brilliant players etc. I enjoyed my time there and I know what there capable off. Gary has them playing some good stuff and they have a bit momentum and have had a couple of fantastic results recently. So they will be coming with lots of confidence, on there day for me there one of the best teams in the league. Were in great form and should be a cracker, we will look to bring there momentum to a halt and get crucial 3 points. Enjoy the game.”

The match kicks off at Ainslie Park at 3pm. Entry is £5/£3 and all under 12s get in for free. On Saturday we will be joined by a large group of boys from the 2006 group who will be mascots before the game and take part in a number of mini matches art half time. We hope the boys will help create a great atmosphere in what is also a tighly contested derby game!
