Weekend Round-upThe Seniors went back to the top of the Lowland League with 4-0 win v Preston Athletic. It was a special day at the Academy as a hat-trick from Keith McLeod saw the legend hit his 250th – then his 251st goal for the Club. Cloudy has a formidable record, reaching the milestone in just 373 appearances. Also on the score sheet was Jack Beacher, The midfielder breaking his duck since his move to the Academy after what’s been an injury-troubled season so far.On Friday night, the East of Scotland side kept a well deserved and much desired clean sheet against Heriot Watt Uni. Two great strikes for Alec’s men from Paul Roberts and David Stewart plus some top-class goalkeeping from Murray Jackson meant three valuable points were earned. The Saturday Amateurs beat Maddiston 5 – 0 in Round 1 of the East of Scotland Cup, goals from Andy Howatt 2, Chris McIntyre 2 and Iain Cartwright. A fine weekend was sealed when the U19s beat Musselburgh Athletic away in the League Cup 2 – 1, goals from Sean Stewart and Blair Atkinson, who came on as a second half substitution 24 hours earlier for the Seniors in their win. |
