Weekend Round-upA single win proved to be elusive from right across the Spartans family of clubs this weekend. The Seniors held on with 9 men to come away from Dabeattie with a 2-2 draw after twice being ahead in a game that was marred by two late dismissals. Man of the Match Danny Main and the industrious Keith McLeod grabbing goals in a frustrating ninety minutes of football. The result sees Gretna go top with a +2 goal difference in a table that finds the top 5 teams separated by just two points! Full match report can be found here Our East of Scotland side had to make do with a draw at Easthouses after the home side came back from 1-3 down. Goals from Keith Boyes, Davy Stewart and Matty Cunningham earning Alex Cunningham’s men a point in this Qualifying Cup group game. Read Scott Jackson’s report here The Amateurs lost out in a 6 – 4 goal-fest to Tollcross Thistle in the League. Finally, our Women’s Seniors lost 0-9 to the already crowned SWPL Champions Glasgow City, who yet again showed how strong they are. Our form over the last two months has been the best of the rest and today again showed the gulf. All the best to City when they play Arsenal in the last 16 of the Champions League later this month. |
