Looking for a Stirling EffortLast week we delivered an excellent performance and achieved a 4-0 win away to Edinburgh University to maintain our unbeaten start to 2013. With 7/10 months of the season played so far, our new squad has given ourselves a chance to win some silverware. Tomorrow represents the next opportunity in our own personal journey towards doing just that.To do so, we will be required to deliver a 90 minute (maybe 120 minutes) top level performance against the side currently ranked no.1 in E of S football. Stirling contain some of the best players at E of S level….players who could play at a higher level. They also have a top Coach at the helm in Eddie May, someone who in a short period of time has already made his mark and is a fantastic addition to the E of S football community. As everyone knows, our one and only defeat in E of S football this past 7 months was our narrow 1-2 league defeat to Stirling pre Christmas. It wasn’t the festive present we had hoped for, however, in a tight game we demonstrated that we have the players who can and will compete with other top sides for honours this season. Do we go into tomorrow’s game in better shape than our first encounter vs Stirling pre Christmas? I think so. The recent addition of players with SFL pedigree in ‘Loco’ and ‘Feegs’ (Motion and Ferguson) has strengthened our squad…it has helped to raise performance levels to a higher level in both training and on match days. Equally important, some of our senior players are in excellent form right now – Cloudy, Sivvy and Manson are all playing at the top of their game…whilst Granty and Danny are both doing great in new roles within the Team. Deeper, healthy competition for places has resulted in some excellent performances in 2013 so far. Tomorrow’s game is our biggest test of 2013 to date. It’s also a game we are all looking forward too. I’m sure that just like the first game, it will be another tight affair which will come down to fine margins and/or a piece of magic on the day. |
