Undefeated SaturdayThe Seniors comfortably beat Hawick RA 8 – 0 in Round 1 of the King Cup. After only ten minutes we were 2 – 0 ahead. John Ferguson scored from close range for the opener and Keith McLeod scored the second from the spot after he was brought down. Keith added the third from a John’s cutback just before the half hour mark. Donal Henretty then added the fourth when an Albert header back to their ‘keeper fell short. John then tapped home a Willie Bremner cut back before John Grant scored the goal of the game on the half time whistle. He weaved past three defenders and rifled one from an acute angle. Hawick defended resolutely in the second half and limited us to two goals. Sean Wringe scored early in the half from close range before Donal scored his 100th goal in a Spartans jersey after some great work by Sean in the final minute. Kevin Motion won the Malt and Hops man of the match after a controlling midfield performance. Team: Flockhart, Grant, Cannnazero (Seeley 45), McCuish, Sivewright, Motion, McLeod, Henretty, Manson, Bremner (Wringe 45), Ferguson (Martin 64) Subs not used Gilpin, WhatleyThe Juniors played very well against high flying Arniston Rangers but ended up with a share of the points. Two goals from Paul Roberts and one from Chris Milligan gave us a 3 – 1 lead after 35 minutes but Arniston came back to equalise. Our Amateurs drew 0 – 0 with Edinburgh University in a game we had chances to win. Finally congratulations to our 17s who won their Scottish Cup quarter final 2 – 1 in Ayr this afternoon. The boys have done fantastically well and now have a big semi final to look forward to. |
