Seniors look forward to rare guests

Posted on Friday, February 1st, 2013

The Seniors play Hawick Royal Albert tomorrow in Round 1 of the King Cup. Our last game against the Albert was a Scottish Qualifying Cup game in 2003. It was also a first round encounter when a brace from Iain Crawford coupled with goals from Keith McLeod, Donal Henretty and Phil Johnson gave us a 5 – 1 victory. Back then we had to qualify for the Scottish Cup through the Qualifying Cup, that year we beat Edinburgh City in the Qualifying Cup final before going on the Cup run which really put us on the map. We reached the fourth round of the Scottish Cup proper before losing to Livingston 4 – 0, Livi going on to winning the League Cup the following month.
Looking forward to tomorrow Donal and Keith are of course still with us with Donal inching close to 100 goals, only 2 to go. Andy Martin returns to the squad and Chris Anderson’s minor operation went well this week but he will be out for a few weeks.
The game is a 2.30 ko, admission is £5/£3.
After the Seniors game we host the Leith Athletic vs Lothian Thistle/Hutchison Vale King Cup game. Their ko is 4.30pm so Ainslie Park will be a great place for football action tomorrow with our Juniors starting at 1.45pm on the community pitch followed by our Amateurs.
