Late goal for the Watt means a share of the points

Posted on Tuesday, September 18th, 2012

After a very good first half we conceded a goal in the 88th minute to draw 1 – 1 with Heriot Watt University tonight in a league game.
We opened brightly and Donal Henretty had a header cleared off the line in the second minute. We were well on he top but it took until the half hour mark for us to open the scoring. Jack Beesley’s corner was headed against the ‘keeper by Donal and Neil McCuish poked home the rebound. Jack came close and a couple of dangerous Andy Martin runs were foiled just when it looked like we would score.
In the first minute of the second half Willie Bremner had a close range effort blocked with the keeper out of his goal however it was the Watt who came more into the game as the half progressed. Ross Gilpin saved well from a free kick but he stretched his calf in doing so and Chris Flockhart had to come on. Watt equalised when Forsyth scored from eight yards after a good move down our right hand side. After a flurry of bookings Kevin Sivewright picked up his second yellow and therefore a red for a block tackle right on the final whistle. The Malt and Hops man of the match went to Jack Beesley for a great first half performance. Team: Gilpin (Flockhart 74), Grant, Cannazero, Sivewright, McCuish, Manson, Whatley, Martin (Anderson 65), Henretty (Finnie 84), Beesley, Bremner Subs not used Seeley, McKinnon
