Seniors crash out of Scottish Cups, draws for Juniors and AmateursWick Academy took the spoils this afternoon in the Scottish Cup with a 2 – 0 victory. We started nervously but came into the game as he half progressed. Keith McLeod went close with two efforts as we began to look dangerous midway though the first half however it was all to change when Ali McKinnon went off with a head knock on the half hour mark. Ali headed off for stitches as the half was all set to peter out. We were just into injury time when we failed to clear a corner and Wick took the lead. Only a minute later and it was two, we failed to defend another corner and the Wick striker knocked the ball home from two yards. We changed to a 4 3 3 formation in the second half and despite nearly all the possession we could only create half chances. Keith came close again on the hour mark but the Wick ‘keeper stood strong. As we committed players forward Wick had a couple of good chances and Chris Flockhart had to look sharp with a couple of good saves. We threw on three strikers to try and create chances, Donal Henretty came closest when the Wick ‘keeper again had to be alert. Wick had defended very well in the second half and deserved their victory, and good luck to them in Round 2. Kevin Sivewright won the Malt and Hops Spartans man of the match.
