Seniors lose to Nitten in final pre-season game

The Seniors lost our final pre-season game in an entertaining game at Newtongrange Star. The first half was an end to end encounter with the impressive Mark Whatley firing a shot of the post while at the other end, the ever dangerous Paul Tansey hit the bar. While our goalkeeper pulled off a sensational save when it looked like a certain goal.

A couple of half time subs were made but before they had time to settle we’d gone 1-0 down following a well worked goal by Nitten. Just a few minutes later and the home side’s advantage was doubled when a cross into the box was headed home from about 2 yards out.

Nitten had a chance to make it three when our young u19s keeper, standing in for the ill Chris Flockhart, brought down one of the Nitten wingers inside the box. The referee pointed to the spot however he made amends for his error with another brilliant save to prevent a goal.

Several of the squad got time on the park as the game went on, in what was our final pre-season game before we open our campaign this Saturday away to Ormiston in the League Cup Qualifying Stage
