Cowdenbeath grab later winner

Posted on Wednesday, July 25th, 2012

The Seniors narrowly lost out in the final home pre-season game to a late wonder strike from SFL Division 1 side Cowdenbeath.

In a game of limited clear chances, Cowdenbeath took the lead mid way through the first half when Greg Stewart managed to take the ball round a couple of our players before firing home. Our best chance of the first half came when Mark Whatley fed the ball to trialist Sean Palizck, who fired just over the bar.

Dougie Samuel brought on Johnny Seeley at half time, allowing Robbie Manson to move into midfield. The changes had the desired effect as we were much improved in the second half. We had much more possession of the ball and deservedly equalised when Jordan Finnie made the most of a goalkeeping error which allowed him to tap the ball home.

Robbie Manson was denied a potential winning goal with a block on the line however it was Cowdenbeath who would strike last, substitute Michael Fleming blasted the ball high into the net from about 10 yards out.

We now travel away to Tayport on Saturday and any fan wanting to travel with the team needs to contact Cameron Hobbs to book a place on the bus. There are only a limited number of seats so act fast to avoid missing out.

Team: Flockhart, Manson, Cennerrazzo, Sivewright, O’Donnell (McCuish), Woodburn (Seeley), Whatley, Grant, Palizcka (Finnie), Anderson, Wringe (Donnelly) Unused: McTurk
